Selected story co-producers will be paid a $2000 stipend for working with the Cal Ag Roots Team from June-December, 2019, to produce a twenty-minute podcast that will be released in the fall of 2019. Story co-producers will identify a potential story and work with Cal Ag Roots to conduct interviews, write podcast scripts, record narration and edit audio for the piece. Here's the full article (thanks, Kimberly!):
USDA makes nearly $2 billion available for farmers and ranchers affected by wildfires and hurricanes
The USDA has announced that agricultural producers affected by hurricanes and wildfires in 2017 now may apply for assistance to help recover and rebuild their farming operations. Sign-ups began July 16, 2018 and will continue through November 16, 2018.
“Hurricanes and wildfires caused billions of dollars in losses to America’s farmers last year. Our objective is to get relief funds into the hands of eligible producers as quickly as possible,” said USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue. “We are making immediate, initial payments of up to 50 percent of the calculated assistance so producers can pay their bills.”
Additional payments will be issued, if funds remain available, later in the year.
The program, known as the 2017 Wildfires and Hurricanes

Subject: Seeking a committed visionary partner and keen investor
Buck Mountain Forest Gardens is a magnificent 20-acre site in the heart of the Carmel Valley, and prime for becoming a living sanctuary and community landmark dedicated to the legacy of regenerative agriculture. We're seeking a committed visionary partner and keen investor to develop an ecological retreat center for family cultural and corporate events, as well as an educational farm center for sustainable land management practices. The ideal partner will have experience in sustainable land stewardship, cultivating cooperative relationships and developing viable templates for progressively growing restorative economies, ecologies, and communities -- willing to invest in real places, people and local micro enterprises.

The http://walnuts.org should take you to the California Walnut Commission and the California Walnut Board. The commission has a newsletter and is on Facebook. The local UC extensions have walnut meetings in the spring, so contact your local extension office. If you sell commercially, a portion of your sales go to these organizations, which do a great job of promoting walnuts and supporting research.
